       Project Background

Abdul and Rukhsana had been visualizing their perfect back yard since the day they bought the house, so they had a very strong idea of what they wanted to accomplish. The budget was fairly moderate and the yard was also quite expansive measuring in at 60ft wide and 74ft deep. The primary feature of the yard is a 6ft high waterfall into a 30ft koi pond. This posed some interesting challenges in that a large volume of water would need to be filtrated and circulated in order to keep the pond properly oxygenated. A second smaller water trough was added to facilitate this, while giving it a natural setting. The theme of the yard is tropical, so various palm trees were installed as well as other plants that give the yard a South American feel.

A custom made bridge was created to accent the pond, as well as various other types of schrubs and ground cover to vary the scenery. On the functional side of the project is a free flowing concrete patio with a colored border. The concrete runs along both sides of the house giving them easy access to utilize as walkways to the front of the house. Some Sago Palms were also installed at the front of the house to continue the theme, as well as a custom built walkway to the front entrance.
